Richard ’s professional biography

An extraordinarily empathetic lawyer, Richard is deeply committed to making a difference to the lives of severely injured patients and their families. He represents clients who have been brain damaged resulting in cerebral palsy, tetraplegia and PVS, and disabled by spinal injuries, cauda equina and amputation. He acts for the dependent families of those whose lives have been shortened by undiagnosed cancer.

Richard’s gentle and compassionate manner with clients is combined with intellectually rigorous use of the legal process to secure early admissions of liability, substantial interim payments and maximum compensation to provide his clients with rehabilitation, housing, education and care.

His client care is exceptional as he is passionate about helping those damaged by medical negligence through the emotional issues inherent in injury, loss and bereavement. Richard has dedicated his career to helping severely injured people come to terms with the consequences of medical mistakes, improving their lives by supporting them through the emotional as well as medico-legal complexities of the litigation process, whilst campaigning for change in the NHS.

A popular advocate for ethical medical practice and excellence within the legal profession, Richard is an active lecturer and educator to medical practitioners and lawyers alike.

Richard is a specialist panel member of Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) and the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel. He is a member and former regional secretary and coordinator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
