Emma-Jane Kurtz

As an associate solicitor in Boyes Turner’s highly respected Court of Protection team, Emma-Jane’s former legal experience in private client work and her specialist skills in caring for and advising the elderly enables her to offer an additional layer of expertise to Boyes Turner’s severely injured and vulnerable clients.

Emma-Jane assists Partner, Ruth Meyer, in all matters relating to Court of Protection deputyship and personal injury trusts. Her work includes making applications to the Court of Protection for deputyships and advising on and setting up personal injury trusts for injured clients for whom Court of Protection deputyship is not required. Emma-Jane helps clients and their families with the day-to-day management of their finances, easing their administrative and paperwork burden and assisting with budgeting, compliance and reporting requirements. She liaises with case managers, investment advisors, accountants and other professionals to ensure that the client’s best interests are met and on the client’s behalf.

Emma-Jane’s interest in protecting the best interests of her clients extends to ensuring that their wishes are met in the future, beyond their lifetime, through the preparation of a statutory will. She is keenly interested in this important means by which she can provide for the individual needs of her clients;

“Although the legal process is similar in each matter, the circumstances of each client are very different, so the application must be considered carefully to ensure it meet’s the client’s best interests.”

Emma-Jane is a full member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE). She has completed the Older Client Care in Practice (OCCP) Award, an externally accredited award which focusses on specialist client care skills to advise and support older and vulnerable clients.

In her spare time, you’ll find Emma-Jane at Harlequins FC, making the most of her season ticket to indulge her passion for rugby. When not in the stands, she’ll be listening to music, ideally classical, played live in concert.

The service provided was first class. You were understanding, caring and professional
