Jane* is a nine year old child who suffered clinical injuries at birth leaving extensive physical and mental damage. Jane has severe quadriplegic cerebral palsy and needs assistance for all activities. She is also registered blind and has epilepsy. Judgment has been given but the case has not yet settled. Jane has a very limited life expectancy and we are therefore trying to sort out as much as possible with the interim payment received. Ruth Meyer took over the deputyship from the parents so that they could concentrate on Jane’s care rather than the paperwork and the dealings with the court. A house has been purchased and will shortly be fully adapted once we have obtained a disabled facilities grant. Hoists will be placed in the bedroom and bathroom and a separate area maintained for the carers so that the family can maintain their privacy. This case will settle in excess of £1 million.
