What made you go into law? I knew I wanted to go to university after my A-levels but I had no idea what I wanted to study. I sat down one day with a teacher who I’d known for many years and talked about my skill set, he suggested law which I’d never thought of before, I went away and did some research and it really sparked my interest. The rest is history! When did you join Boyes Turner and what is your role? I joined Boyes Turner on 11 November 2024, Remembrance Day. I am a Partner in the Court of Protection team, managing the property and finances of adults and children who do not have mental capacity to do so themselves. Not only that, but I also help run the team, and assist the Community Care team regarding care and welfare matters. What do you like most about/what are you most looking forward to in your role? I’ve been working with disabled, vulnerable and injured people for 30 years. My work has always been much more about “people” than the law (although it is important to get the law bit right!), providing the best level of service possible, training and supporting colleagues, and finding practical solutions to challenges. I consider myself very lucky to be able to say that after all these years I still genuinely love what I do, and there is never a dull day. What do you like to do outside of work? I have been Chair of Trustees at Headway Portsmouth and South East Hampshire for almost 20 years, my local branch of the national charity that supports adults who have acquired brain injuries and their families/carers. My daughter is neuro-divergent with significant additional needs so navigating the health and education systems, and supporting her, takes a lot of time. I am a fan of cruise holidays, musicals and motor racing (short oval circuits) when time permits. The photo is of me with the new addition to our family who has really helped my daughter – meet Harry the rescue cat, with a picture of Cunard cruise ships in the background. What is your favourite food? Difficult question as I love food and have a sweet tooth! My favourite cuisine is Italian and Tiramisu has to be at the top of the list.
