The way of working has changed significantly in recent years, with hybrid working becoming the new way of working for many professionals. The ability to split time between the office and home has provided greater flexibility, allowing people to rethink not only how they work, but also where they live. With the full support of my Court of Protection team at Boyes Turner, I seized the opportunity to relocate to the Isle of Wight, a move that would have once been impossible while still working. Now, despite no longer living on the British mainland, I can still travel across the Solent when needed to attend meetings in the office, travel to see clients in person for the annual deputyship meeting, which is something that is a particular highlight for me and support clients on a day-to-day basis, as I always have done. How we support our Court of Protection clients As part of the Court of Protection team, I work closely with clients to provide practical and legal support tailored to their needs. My work can involve supporting my clients and their families through all aspects of their lives, which can include the buying, selling, and adapting of their home, care, therapy and day to day issues such as paying bills. However, unlike many areas of legal work, my involvement is not a one-off event in the client’s life. Our Court of Protection team act for clients all over the country from Cornwall to Northumbria, Wales and even the Isle of Wight and will often visit clients at their home address where they may feel more comfortable. Our professional connections with case managers, care agencies, therapists, architects, fund managers and accountants and others are far-reaching so that we can provide a fully supportive service. A new way of living and working Embracing hybrid working has allowed me to find a better work-life balance in an environment that suits me. Living on the Isle of Wight has introduced me to a more relaxed pace of life, although I am still adjusting to the fact that some shops close for lunch! With stunning sea views and incredible wildlife, including a regular visiting eagle. Exploring my new surroundings is very exciting, whilst continuing to be able to do the work I love in supporting the clients I work with. For those considering a new way of working, embracing change can open doors to unexpected and exciting opportunities. While it may seem daunting, it can also be a positive experience showing that flexibility in the workplace isn’t just about convenience. How can we help We value our clients and connections. We enjoy meeting up with them and finding solutions to how we can support them.
