Boyes Turner's asbestos claims lawyers successfully settled a claim for £260,000 for a 60 year old man who developed mesothelioma, an asbestos related cancer, after being exposed to asbestos when he was employed by Reed Paper Board Mill on Colthrop Lane, near Newbury between 1976 and 1978.

The victim was exposed to asbestos when removing large pieces of board which had become stuck in the machines and dragging the board over the asbestos-lagged pipes. The Mill had a team of laggers who regularly mixed dry asbestos to form a paste before applying it on to the steam pipes which served the machines on and under which the victim worked.

The claim settled for £260,000.
