What made you go into law?

By chance, I started working as a PA for a Sole Practitioner who did Litigation work many years ago and this gave me the opportunity to get more involved, which I was keen to do, and I saw a great chance to develop my career at the time. This led to me starting my path on the Legal Exec route over a period of 7 years juggling full-time work and studying. I moved from Litigation into Commercial Property and after doing my LPC at Guildford I qualified into Commercial Property working in this area for about 8 years before leaving to start a family back in 2009. I had a long break from the law and worked in the education sector for just over 6 years although this year decided that I was ready for a change and a new challenge. A return to the law was a natural consideration and I saw the role available within the Court of Protection team and now here I am!

When did you join Boyes Turner and what is your role?

I joined in April 2023 as a Paralegal in the Court of Protection Team.

What do you like most about/what are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I have really enjoyed returning to the law and having the chance to expand my knowledge within a completely different area. There is so much I have learnt already and am continuing to learn each and every day. That said, one of the best things has been the team who have been very welcoming and everyone is always willing and happy to help, however busy they are.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time with the family when we all have the chance to do something together as life is always busy, particularly with the kids’ social lives! One of the things we all love is competing against each other at go karting – the gloves really do come off for this! I also enjoy walking and in my continued aim to get a family dog I have signed up to Borrow my Doggy which is great as it provides the opportunity to regularly take our new friend Pico out for weekend walks which allows me time to get out and about too.

It’s also fair to say that I have been known to really relax with a large glass of wine and a good book!

What is your favourite food?

This is a tricky one although I’d have to say that Cadbury’s Dairy Milk is the winner – life is better for me (and the family) if there’s always at least one big bar of this in our house!
