Boyes Turner’s neonatal brain injury lawyers secured a liability judgment for a boy who suffered a neonatal brain injury.

The boy was one of twins who were born prematurely. He developed necrotising enterocolitis (a serious condition causing tissue death in parts of the bowel) following his birth. This condition was inadequately treated in hospital and he suffered a collapse at one week old. As a result, he needed ventilation but this was negligently administered excessively. He suffered an extensive period of hypocarbia leading to permanent brain damage.

We pursued a claim for compensation for our client and secured an admission of liability (fault) from the hospital. We obtained a liability judgment from the court and the case was then stayed until our client is old enough for the full impact of his brain injury, disability and future needs to be assessed accurately in readiness for final settlement. In the meantime, our client’s immediate needs are being met with the help of interim (advance) payments of compensation.

If you have suffered a serious injury or disability as a result of medical negligence and would like to find out more about making a claim, you can talk to one of our specialist solicitors, free and confidentially, by contacting us here.
