Boyes Turner's specialist asbestos claims lawyers were instructed by the family of Mr J following his death as a consequence of mesothelioma, an asbestos related disease in 2014.

Mr J’s employment history

Mr J was exposed to asbestos whilst working as a lagger for the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB). He was sadly diagnosed as suffering from mesothelioma in 2014 and died shortly after.

Mr J’s family were aware that he worked as a lagger for the CEGB, but little was known about his actual working practices or the details of his asbestos exposure.

Boyes Turner’s investigation of the claim

Nearly 3 years following Mr J’s passing his family approached Boyes Turner asking if they would investigate a claim on his behalf. Our specialist industrial disease team had very little information regarding Mr J’s asbestos exposure and little time to carry out any in-depth investigations in to the same as the claim had to be pursued within 3 years of Mr J’s passing.

Boyes Turner however decided to pursue the claim in an attempt to obtain justice for Mr J.

Within 2 months of sending a detailed letter of claim to the CEGB (now RWE Generation UK Plc) an admission of liability was received and the claim was settled in full, this is an extremely fast settlement of a mesothelioma claim, especially where such limited information was known regarding the asbestos exposure complained of.
