Boyes Turner’s medical negligence solicitors secured a £190,000 compensation settlement for a client who required further surgery and intensive rehabilitation after a privately performed operation on her shoulder.

Our client’s collarbone dislocated the day after the surgery but this was not diagnosed for a further two days. Our client required extensive reconstructive surgery involving three operations and needed intensive rehabilitation. Her range of movement in the shoulder is permanently restricted.

Our client asked us to help her make a claim against the surgeon. We investigated the treatment our client had received and obtained a report from an orthopaedic expert who believed that our client’s injury had been caused by damage to her ligaments as a result of negligent performance of the surgery.

The defendant surgeon denied responsibility for our client’s injuries and argued that the dislocation following surgery must have been caused by our client falling at home. The defendant maintained that position after we issued court proceedings but a negotiated out-of-court settlement of £190,000 was achieved in the months leading up to trial.

If you have suffered a serious injury or disability as a result of medical negligence and would like to find out more about making a claim, you can talk to one of our specialist solicitors, free and confidentially, by contacting us here.
