£100,000+ compensation recovered following hospital failure to diagnose fetal abnormality

Boyes Turner recently acted for a woman whose child was born with a missing lower arm, from the elbow down.

She claimed that this abnormality should have been detected at a routine anomaly scan. If it had been, she would have undergone a termination.

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust admitted that the abnormality should have been detected at an anomaly scan but denied that the woman would have terminated the pregnancy, or been offered a termination.

Court proceedings commenced and after negotiation the case was settled for £108,000 to reflect the extra costs of bringing up a child with additional needs.

The service was personal, professional and considered. I was treated so kindly and in the end I knew that not only had I found the right organisation but also the right person.
