Boyes Turner's medical negligence lawyers previously reported  Marcus’* medical negligence case in which the hospital admitted a delay in diagnosis of a corneal ulcer leading to loss of vision.

The hospital admitted there was a failure to refer Marcus for an urgent review (within 24 hours of the first attendance at A&E) and that the diagnosis of conjunctivitis was incorrect.

After the hospital admitted their mistakes, the claim was valued and an offer of settlement was put forward to the hospital’s representatives. Settlement negotiations took place which resulted in compensation of £48,000 being recovered. The settlement included claims for aids and equipment, domestic assistance and taxi costs as Marcus was no longer able to drive at night.

Marcus said:

"This company is in my opinion the best in this country for you to use. Good access to your nominated solicitor (mine being Sita) [and] they keep you informed all the way. There is no need to worry with these people behind you - they keep you up to date with the way things are proceeding [and] arrange for any specialist support if needed - in my case, a court specialist in eye damage...the offer [I recieived]...was higher than I expected!!! Go with this firm - after all they did for me I would place them at the top of their profession. They treat you more as a friend than a client."
