Our client, Mrs G, underwent a cataract removal operation through Netcare Healthcare UK Limited who were contracted by the NHS to undertake the surgery to help reduce waiting lists.

She underwent the required surgery during which damage was caused to her eye. This led to partial loss of vision which required further surgery including repositioning of the iris. Following remedial surgery, her vision did not improve and consequently she is left with some disability.

Medical negligence claim

Court proceedings were issued against the company responsible for the surgery, and the surgeon himself. Following a failure to provide further evidence on the part of the defendants, the matter was compromised in favour of Mrs G in the sum of £30,000 plus her costs.

This medical claim was funded by way of a Conditional Fee Agreement which was backed by After the Event insurance.
