Boyes Turner, expert mesothelioma claim lawyers, were instructed by Mr K when he was diagnosed with mesothelioma whilst residing in New Zealand. Mr K sadly died shortly after providing instructions and his widow, Mrs K took over his claim.

Mr K was employed by BP Shipping Limited, formerly BP Tanker Company Limited, between 1954 and 1965 as an apprentice engineer and an engineer. Mr K described how he worked onboard ships, both at sea and in dock, and was exposed to asbestos on a daily basis when working onboard ships. Mr K described how asbestos based lagging was extensively used to insulate the plant, boilers and pipework in the ships. His duties included maintaining the pipework, and manually removing sections of asbestos lagging in order to access the plant/pipework.

Mr K moved to New Zealand in 1974, but contacted our expert mesothelioma claim lawyers to bring his claim against his English employers.

Expert medical evidence was obtained and Mrs K’s claim settled for £120,000 gross.
