Special educational needs
All parents are keen to ensure that their child receives the best education possible and this is perhaps all the more so where the child has special needs as a result of disability.Getting a Statement of Special Educational Need
Often disabled children will need or will have a Statement of Special Educational Need. It is important that the Statement adequately identifies the special educational needs and then in turn provides for them.
Choosing the right school
It is important that a disabled child has the right schooling whether that is in a mainstream school or a special needs school.
What should you do if you have concerns?
Parents can appeal in certain circumstances to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal if they are unhappy with the Statement of Special Educational Need. Quite tight timetables apply for appealing and so it is advisable to seek professional advice at an early stage.
