In brief

I started my training contract in September 2008. My first seat was in the firm's large Property group where I was given the opportunity to help advise some of their top clients and I was given a real insight into the world of commercial property law.

For my second seat I moved to the Personal Injury team, where I was given the chance to experience a high level of one to one contact with private clients. The work was diverse, really interesting and I enjoyed the high level of responsibility I was given.

IMy third seat was with the Corporate Recovery group, where I was involved in a real variety of work, supporting the team in advising insolvency practitioners and helping them to realise assets in order to pay creditors.

I am currently with the firm's busy Industrial Disease group.

Each group that I have worked with so far have given me a very high quality of work. I have always been made to feel extremely welcome and I have felt assured that I have a valuable and important part to play.

In the past

Having received a 2:1 in History at the University of York I decided to pursue my long-held interest in the law and enrolled at the College of Law in York. After completing the GDL and LPC I was lucky enough to get the chance to take some time out to go travelling. After working tirelessly for 18 months I finally got the requisite money together and took 6 months travelling. This was divided between South America, where I got to see some of the world’s most spectacular scenery, and a road-trip of the USA, which along with beautiful surroundings also included some interesting encounters with a state trooper on the highway in Texas and hillbillies in Alabama!

In my spare time

The majority of my spare time is divided between reading, listening to music, going to gigs, playing my various (rather loud) musical instruments, watching stand-up comedy (Stewart Lee and Daniel Kitson being my favourite stand-ups), and watching/playing football.
