APIL reaches 20-year milestone
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers celebrated 20 years of fighting for the rights of injured people this week.
Staff, members, business associates and executive committee members gathered at the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham on 7 July 2010 for a champagne reception.
Addressing the assembled guests, chief executive Denise Kitchener reflected on APIL’s early days and how the association has grown. She said: “From those early days of 700 hundred members, our support base has grown to over 4,500 and our work is actively supported by many dedicated personal injury lawyers and I am delighted that some are here with us today.”
Denise added: “Over our 20 years we have faced many challenges to injured people’s rights and changes to our civil justice system. I am proud to say we have faced them head on and will continue to do so.”
Adrian Desmond a medical negligence lawyer from Reading based law firm Boyes Turner added: "We congratulate APIL on its 20th anniversary. Boyes Turner has been a staunch supporter of the aims of the Association since it began and now has over 20 members including 2 fellows. APIL exists to promote full and just compensation for all types of personal injury and to campaign for improvements in public safety and protection At no time have those objectives been more important."
