As a result of your personal injury or medical negligence you may have a longer than anticipated recovery period or you may be unable to return fully or partially to your pre injury activities.

Compensation for care and assistance

We will claim compensation for you to reflect the additional care and assistance you have received and will need.

Items we can claim for include such things as:

Help with getting in and out of bed, washing, dressing, toileting, eating and drinking, changing bandages, cooking, cleaning, general housework, gardening, decorating, shopping, travel and other aspects of daily living.     

If you have paid for people to help you we will need to collect together the invoices or detail the expenditure in your witness statement to give the Court the evidence of the cost to you.  

If the care and assistance has been provided with no financial charge again we need to collect together the evidence of what care and assistance has been provided, usually in your witness statement.  We then apply an hourly rate to the number of hours to give a financial total.

Looking into the future we will, with the help of medical and other experts, assess your ongoing need and calculate how much it will cost you to buy in services to meet your need.

Compensation for future medical treatment

If you need medical treatment because of your personal injury and would prefer to have this treatment as a private patient we can claim the cost of this treatment for you.

With the help of our medical experts we assess what treatment you are likely to need and when you are likely to be treated.  We can then claim for the cost of this treatment and the associated costs for you of being away from work or the family as well as your needs during the recovery period from treatment.

Compensation for equipment

You may need aids and appliances to assist in minimising the effects of your injury.  We can claim for the cost (and replacement cost) of all of these.  Depending on your needs we may arrange for you to be assessed by an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist, communication and technology expert or other.  Together with the experts we can assess what equipment might be of assistance for you, help you to source and try the equipment, and include the cost of the equipment needed (both now and in the future) in your personal injury claim.

Adaptions to your house or car

Your house or car may need adapting or you may need to move to a more suitable house or need a more suitable car.  We can arrange for your needs to be assessed and adaptations made or suitable alternative to be found.
