Compensation for man exposed to asbestos whilst employed by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham
Boyes Turner’s specialist asbestos lawyers were instructed in November 2007 by a man who had been diagnosed with pleural thickening and pleural plaques.
He had been employed by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham as a labourer collecting refuse.
As a result of this employment, he had exposure to asbestos and the medical expert who was instructed in relation to the claim concluded that this exposure had caused pleural thickening, causing him a respiratory disability.
The Council’s insurers denied liability and disputed the alleged exposure.
However, a satisfactory settlement was reached in June 2010 shortly before it was necessary to issue court proceedings as the three year anniversary of the man’s “date of knowledge” was approaching.
