Compensation for pleural thickening against Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions (UK) Limited (previously known as Mather & Platt)
Boyes Turner's specialist lawyers were instructed by a client, who suffers from pleural thickening which developed as a consequence of heavy exposure to asbestos.
He was employed by Mather and Platt as an engineer in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Mather and Platt were a provider of fire sprinkler systems and his role was to install the systems in various buildings.
He often worked on construction sites as the sprinklers had to be fitted early in a development, and he was followed around the site by the pipe laggers who would insulate the newly fitted pipes with asbestos. He therefore worked closely with asbestos without any protective clothing.
Our specialist lawyers successfully brought a claim for compensation which was settled for £22.5k in October 2009.
